Fall renewal season continues into November. Veterinarians and veterinary technicians in Missouri and Pennsylvania have license or credential renewal deadlines on November 30, 2026, making now a good time to confirm your continuing education (CE) requirements, check your completed hours, and make sure your renewal is on track.
CE requirements vary by state and profession, including the number of required hours, approved course formats, and documentation requirements. Missouri renews veterinarian and veterinary technician credentials annually, while Pennsylvania renews veterinarian and veterinary technician credentials every two years.
If you still need CE before your renewal, ZukuCE is now available for veterinarians and veterinary technicians, with RACE-approved live interactive and on-demand continuing education across a range of veterinary topics. Special introductory pricing is available through December 31, 2026, giving veterinary professionals an opportunity to explore the CE platform while working toward applicable renewal requirements.
Here’s what Missouri and Pennsylvania veterinary professionals need to know for November 2026.
Missouri Veterinary CE Requirements: November 30, 2026 Renewal
Veterinarians
- Renewal Deadline: November 30, 2026
- Renewal Frequency: Annually
- CE Required: 10 hours annually
- CE Reporting Period: December 1, 2025–November 30, 2026. CE earned after November 30 applies to the next reporting cycle.
- Required Subjects & Limits:
- Missouri does not require a specific CE subject; qualifying CE must relate to the practice of veterinary medicine.
- No more than 2 hours may be earned through self-study reading of approved scientific journals.
- Non-scientific CE related to veterinary practice, including communication, medical recordkeeping, stress management, and practice management, is permitted within Missouri’s applicable category limits.
- Allowed Formats: Qualifying scientific workshops and seminars and approved audio/video, electronic, computer-based, and interactive educational programs may count toward the CE requirement.
- RACE-Approved CE: Missouri recognizes AAVSB’s Registry of Approved Continuing Education (RACE) among its approved CE sources, so qualifying RACE-approved ZukuCE courses may count toward veterinarian CE requirements.
- CE Carryover: Veterinarians who complete more than 10 CE hours during the current reporting period may carry over up to 10 excess hours to the next reporting period. Self-study hours are excluded from carryover, and CE may not be carried forward more than one reporting period after it is earned.
- CE Documentation: Keep complete CE records for the current reporting period plus the previous 2 reporting periods. Records must document the course title, date, location, sponsor, hours earned, and certificate of attendance or completion. The Board may audit CE compliance.
- New Graduates: Veterinarians who graduate from an accredited veterinary school and are initially licensed during the reporting period are exempt from CE for that reporting period.
Veterinary Technicians
- Renewal Deadline: November 30, 2026
- Renewal Frequency: Annually
- CE Required: 5 hours annually
- CE Reporting Period: December 1, 2025–November 30, 2026. CE earned after November 30 applies to the next reporting cycle.
- Required Subjects & Limits:
- At least 3 of the 5 hours must be earned through an approved workshop or seminar or through qualifying scientific audio/video, electronic, computer-based, or interactive education.
- The remaining 2 hours may be earned through other qualifying activities permitted by Missouri, including professional consultation, professional journal reading, or qualifying non-scientific education related to veterinary practice.
- RACE-Approved CE: Missouri specifically recognizes qualifying scientific programs and materials prepared or sponsored through AAVSB/RACE for the 3-hour approved-education requirement. Qualifying RACE-approved ZukuCE courses for veterinary technicians may count toward this requirement.
- CE Carryover: Veterinary technicians may accumulate the required CE for up to 2 years. Excess hours may be applied to the next renewal year but cannot be carried over more than one renewal year after they are earned.
- CE Documentation: Keep complete CE records for the current reporting period plus the previous 2 reporting periods. Records must document the course title, date, location, sponsor, hours earned, and certificate of attendance or completion. The Board may audit CE compliance.
- New Graduates: Veterinary technicians who graduate from an accredited school of veterinary technology and are initially licensed during the reporting period are exempt from CE for that reporting period.
2026 Renewal Fees: Missouri’s annual active renewal fee is $60 for veterinarians and $30 for veterinary technicians. The Board also lists a $200 late-renewal penalty fee for veterinarians and a $100 late-renewal penalty fee for veterinary technicians.
Missed the deadline? Missouri veterinarian licenses and veterinary technician registrations expire November 30 of each year. A credential that is not renewed within 30 days of the renewal date is declared noncurrent, and the veterinarian or veterinary technician may not practice under the noncurrent credential. A noncurrent credential may generally be restored within 2 years of the renewal date by meeting Missouri’s restoration requirements, including submitting the renewal application, paying the applicable current and delinquent renewal fees and penalty fee, and documenting the required CE.
Looking Ahead: Missouri’s next CE reporting period runs December 1, 2026–November 30, 2027. ZukuCE offers live interactive and on-demand RACE-approved CE for vets and vet techs. Qualifying ZukuCE courses can help Missouri veterinary professionals work toward their next CE requirements, subject to the state’s applicable CE category and activity limits.
Pennsylvania Veterinary CE Requirements: November 30, 2026 Renewal
Veterinarians
- Renewal Deadline: November 30, 2026
- Renewal Frequency: Every 2 years, in even-numbered years
- CE Required: 30 hours every 2 years
- CE Reporting Period: CE must be completed during the 24 months preceding the renewal date.
- Required Subjects & Limits:
- Pennsylvania does not specify a mandatory CE subject for veterinarians.
- No more than 25% of the 30-hour requirement, or 7.5 hours, may be earned through individual study or written or computer-based correspondence courses with third-party verification of satisfactory completion.
- Courses in office management or practice building do not count toward the 30-hour CE requirement.
- RACE-Approved CE: Pennsylvania recognizes providers listed on AAVSB’s Registry of Approved Continuing Education (RACE), so qualifying RACE-approved ZukuCE courses may count toward veterinarian CE requirements.
- CE Documentation: Keep a list of CE courses attended and certificates of attendance for at least 5 years.
Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVT)
- Renewal Deadline: November 30, 2026
- Renewal Frequency: Every 2 years, in even-numbered years
- CE Required: 16 hours every 2 years
- CE Reporting Period: CE is required for each biennial renewal period.
- Required Subjects & Limits:
- Pennsylvania does not specify a mandatory CE subject for CVTs.
- CE must be Board-approved and designed to provide education on advancements and new developments in veterinary medicine or animal health technology.
- Courses in office management or practice building do not count toward the 16-hour CE requirement.
- RACE-Approved CE: Pennsylvania recognizes providers approved by AAVSB’s Registry of Approved Continuing Education (RACE), including qualifying ZukuCE courses for CVTs.
- CE Documentation: Approved CE providers must issue documentation showing the sponsor, participant, course title, course date, number of credit hours, and verification of attendance.
2026 Renewal Fees: Pennsylvania currently lists a $378 veterinarian renewal fee and a $105 veterinary technician renewal fee.
Missed the deadline? Pennsylvania veterinarian licenses and certified veterinary technician certificates expire November 30, 2026. A $5 late-renewal fee applies for each month or part of a month beyond the renewal deadline. Veterinary professionals should complete the applicable renewal or reactivation process before practicing under an expired credential.
Looking Ahead: Pennsylvania’s next biennial renewal will be November 30, 2028. Veterinarians will need 30 hours of approved CE during the 24 months preceding that renewal, while CVTs will need 16 hours. Because Pennsylvania recognizes RACE-listed providers for both professions, qualifying RACE-approved ZukuCE courses can help veterinarians and CVTs work toward their next CE requirement.

Your November CE Checklist
Before submitting your renewal, make sure you’ve checked more than your total number of CE hours:
- Confirm your exact license, registration, or certificate renewal date.
- Check the CE reporting period.
- Confirm your total required CE hours.
- Review any mandatory subjects and limits on particular types of CE.
- Check whether your state limits self-study, correspondence, online, or other CE formats.
- Confirm that your CE provider or program is accepted by your state.
- Check whether your state recognizes RACE-approved CE.
- Review CE carryover rules before assuming excess hours can be used in your next cycle.
- Save certificates and other CE documentation for the required retention period.
- Complete your renewal before the deadline so you don’t incur late fees or risk practicing under an expired credential.
