Rabbits have extremely powerful hind legs and restraint without proper control of the hind legs can cause lumbar luxation (and severe spinal cord damage). This is particularly important to keep in mind if the rabbit thrashes and kicks excessively.

Proper restraint includes appropriate support of the hind limbs.

Look for hind limb paralysis and incontinence in a rabbit with broken back.
