Paraphimosis means that the penis cannot retract into the prepuce. Treat these cases as an emergency because occlusion of venous drainage can result in edema which can damage penile tissues.

Paraphimosis may occur following manual semen collection or less commonly after mating. Tx involves gently cleaning and liberally lubricating the penis to aid return to the preputial cavity. 

Proptosis means anterior protrusion of the globe beyond the limits of the eyelids, most commonly seen secondary to trauma.
