An iatrogenic problem is one caused by diagnostics or therapeutics.

A common example of iatrogenic disease occurs when chronic treatment with glucocorticoids (e.g., prednisone) causes iatrogenic hyperadrenocorticism (a.k.a HAC, Cushing disease).

The dog does not have true HAC, rather the clinical signs of increased drinking and urination, increased appetite, weight gain, and panting, are due to the chronic administration of oral steroids. Discontinuation of steroids will resolve the clinical signs.
