Veterinarians
Next Renewal Date: December 31, 2026
Renewal Frequency: Every 2 years (December 31 of even-numbered years)
Total Required CE: 20 hours every 2 years
Required Subjects: Veterinarians authorized to dispense controlled substances who hold a valid U.S. DEA registration must complete 3 hours of opioid-, substance use disorder-, or addiction-related CE each renewal cycle. These hours count toward the 20-hour requirement. No more than 2 hours may be in practice management.
Allowed Online: All 20 required CE hours may be completed online if the course is interactive and from an approved source. RACE-approved CE is accepted, including ZukuCE courses.
Interactive Required: All online CE must be interactive. No separate in-person CE requirement is specified.
Record Retention: Licensees must retain certificates of completion for CE verification. The Board's current CE guidance does not specify a particular number of years.
Audit Information: Licensees may be selected for a random CE audit and must provide certificates of completion to verify compliance if requested.
Additional Information: Veterinarians initially licensed in an even-numbered year must complete 10 CE hours before their first renewal. Veterinarians who graduated from veterinary college within 11 months of applying for licensure may count 10 hours of veterinary college coursework toward their first renewal requirement. Veterinary faculty license holders are exempt from CE.

Renewal Frequency: Every 2 years (December 31 of even-numbered years). Arizona refers to this credential as Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) certification.
Total Required CE: 10 hours every 2 years
Required Subjects: No specific mandatory subject is identified. CE must qualify as Board-approved veterinary technology continuing education.
Allowed Online: All 10 required CE hours may be completed online if the courses are interactive and from an approved source. RACE-approved CE is accepted, including ZukuCE courses.
Interactive Required: All online CE must be interactive. No separate in-person CE requirement is specified.
