Veterinarians
Next Renewal Date: September 30, 2028
Renewal Frequency: Every 2 years (september 30 of even-numbered years)
Total Required CE: 30 hours
Required Subjects: At least 20 hours must be directly related to the practice of veterinary medicine. At least 2 hours must cover pharmacy or controlled substances, antimicrobials, or Kentucky or federal laws and regulations related to veterinary medicine. No more than 10 hours may be in practice management or other non-clinical topics.
Allowed Online: All required CE hours may be completed online through RACE-approved providers, including ZukuCE.
Interactive Required: At least 15 hours must be completed in a live, real-time format, either in person or online.
Record Retention: Licensees are responsible for maintaining documentation of completed continuing education. The Board does not specify a retention period.
Audit Information: Licensees should not submit CE documentation with renewal unless requested. The Board may request proof of compliance, including certificates showing course title, provider, delivery method, dates, and hours earned.
Additional Information: Veterinarians initially licensed during the second year of the biennium may qualify for reduced or waived renewal fees, depending on the date of licensure. Inactive licensees are exempt from CE until they apply to return to active status.

Total Required CE: 6 hours
Required Subjects: At least 1 hour must cover pharmacy or controlled substances, antimicrobials, or Kentucky or federal laws and regulations related to veterinary medicine or veterinary technology. No more than 3 hours may be in practice management or other non-clinical topics.
Allowed Online: All required CE hours may be completed online through RACE-approved providers, including ZukuCE.
