Veterinarians
Next Renewal Date: April 1, 2028
Renewal Frequency: Every two years on April 1 of even-numbered years
Total Required CE: 32 hours every two years
Required Subjects: CE must relate directly to the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery. Practice management programs are limited to 8 hours (one-quarter of the total requirement). Veterinarians who prescribe controlled substances must complete 3 hours of CE on prescribing opioids, including 0.5 hour on Nebraska’s prescription drug monitoring program (PDMP).
Allowed Online: Nebraska accepts RACE-approved continuing education, including ZukuCE. Non-interactive home-study courses with a testing mechanism are limited to 8 hours.
Record Retention: Retain documentation of completed continuing education for at least 4 years.
Audit Information: Nebraska may audit licensees for compliance with continuing competency requirements. Licensees selected for an audit must provide documentation verifying completion of acceptable CE; Nebraska’s rules also allow the Board to request documentation from a credential holder as part of an audit.
