Veterinarians
Next Renewal Date: June 30, 2027
Renewal Frequency: Annually
Total Required CE: 20 hours
Required Subjects: 2 of the 20 hours must cover state or federal controlled dangerous substance laws or review of the Oklahoma Veterinary Practice Act and applicable rules. Additionally, veterinarians who are DEA registrants must complete 1 hour in pain management or opioid use/addiction. No more than 5 hours of the total CE may consist of qualifying non-scientific material.
Allowed Online: 20 hours total through approved interactive online CE. Non-interactive web-based/self-study CE is limited to 4 hours.
Interactive Required: Oklahoma does not specify a minimum number of interactive hours. Approved interactive online courses receive CE credit for each approved course hour. Zuku CE is RACE-approved, and Zuku's qualifying live, interactive online CE can be used toward Oklahoma's CE requirement.
Record Retention: 5 years. Veterinarians must maintain verifiable documentation of reported CE in a readily retrievable file. Certificates for online courses showing the number of course hours must also be retained for five years.
Audit Information: CE documentation must be maintained for random audit purposes. Licensees must be able to provide verifiable proof of attendance for the CE hours reported to the Board.
Additional Information: Veterinarians licensed in Oklahoma within one calendar year of graduation are exempt from reporting CE until submission of their second renewal application after initial licensure.
