Veterinarians
Next Renewal Date: December 31, 2026
Renewal Frequency: Annually
Total Required CE: 30 hours every 2 years, reported with each odd-numbered-year renewal
Required Subjects: 1 hour in judicious antibiotic use and 1 hour in appropriate analgesic and anesthetic methods. No more than 6 hours of non-scientific CE may count toward the requirement, and no more than 4 hours may be earned by reading approved scientific journals.
Allowed Online: 30 hours. Oregon permits the full CE requirement to be completed online.
Interactive Required: Oregon does not establish a minimum number of CE hours that must be completed in person or through live/interactive instruction. Because Oregon permits the required hours to be obtained online and recognizes RACE-approved CE, Zuku CE's RACE-approved courses can be used toward Oregon's CE requirement, subject to Oregon's required-subject and category limitations.
Record Retention: At least 2 years. Veterinarians must retain proof of participation in CE and permit the Board to inspect their CE records. Acceptable documentation can include lecture registration records, certificates issued by sponsors, journal subscriptions, or other Board-approved documentation.
Audit Information: The Oregon Veterinary Medical Examining Board may inspect CE records. Failure to retain or provide required CE documentation is grounds for non-renewal or, if the license has already been issued for that year, revocation.
Additional Information: Veterinarian licenses renew annually, but the 30-hour CE requirement is reported with odd-numbered-year renewals. The next license renewal is December 31, 2026; the next CE reporting deadline is December 31, 2027.
Veterinary Technicians

Required Subjects: None specified. However, no more than 3 hours of non-scientific CE may count toward the requirement, and no more than 2 hours may be earned by reading approved scientific journals.
Allowed Online: 15 hours. Oregon permits the full CE requirement to be completed online.
Interactive Required: Oregon does not require a minimum number of in-person or live/interactive CE hours. Zuku CE is RACE-approved, so qualifying Zuku CE can be used toward Oregon's CVT CE requirement, subject to Oregon's applicable CE rules and category limitations.
Record Retention: At least 2 years. CVTs must retain proof of CE participation and allow the Board to inspect those records. Certificates and other Board-approved documentation may be used to demonstrate compliance.
Audit Information: The Board may inspect a CVT's CE records. Failure to retain or provide required CE documentation can result in non-renewal or, if the license has already been issued, revocation.
Additional Information: CVT licenses renew annually, but the 15-hour CE requirement is reported with even-numbered-year renewals. Therefore, December 31, 2026 is both the next license renewal date and the next CE reporting deadline for CVTs.
