Veterinarians
Next Renewal Date: November 30, 2026
Renewal Frequency: Every 2 years, in even-numbered years
Total Required CE: 30 hours every 2 years
Required Subjects: Pennsylvania does not specify a mandatory CE subject. No more than 25% of the 30-hour requirement (7.5 hours) may be earned through individual study or written or computer-based correspondence courses with third-party verification of satisfactory completion. Courses in office management or practice building do not count toward the CE requirement.
Allowed Online: Online CE is permitted when it meets Pennsylvania's applicable CE requirements. No more than 7.5 hours may be earned through individual study or written or computer-based correspondence courses with third-party verification. Pennsylvania recognizes RACE-approved providers, including qualifying ZukuCE courses.
Record Retention: Keep a list of CE courses attended and certificates of attendance for at least 5 years.
Audit Information: Veterinarians must certify compliance with Pennsylvania's CE requirements when renewing and provide supporting CE documentation if requested by the Board.
Additional Information: CE must be completed during the 24 months preceding renewal.
Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVTs)
Next Renewal Date: November 30, 2026
Renewal Frequency: Every 2 years, in even-numbered years
Total Required CE: 16 hours every 2 years
Required Subjects: Pennsylvania does not specify a mandatory CE subject for CVTs. CE must be Board-approved and designed to provide education on advancements and new developments in veterinary medicine or animal health technology. Courses in office management or practice building do not count toward the CE requirement.
Allowed Online: Online CE is permitted when the course meets Pennsylvania's applicable provider and program requirements. Pennsylvania recognizes RACE-approved providers, including qualifying ZukuCE courses for veterinary technicians.
Record Retention: Maintain documentation of completed CE sufficient to verify compliance with the Board's requirements.
Audit Information: CE documentation should identify the sponsor, participant, course title, course date, number of credit hours, and verification of attendance and must be provided if requested by the Board.
