Veterinarians
Next Renewal Date: December 31, 2026
Renewal Frequency: Annually on December 31. Veterinarians may renew from October 1 through December 31 each year.
Total Required CE: 18 hours annually
Required Subjects: At least 14 of the 18 hours must relate to the practice of veterinary medicine, including scientific, laboratory, regulatory, or medical recordkeeping topics. No more than 4 hours may be related to practice management.
Allowed Online: All 18 required CE hours may be completed online. RACE-approved CE is accepted, including qualifying ZukuCE courses.
Record Retention: 2 years following renewal. Licensees must retain documentation verifying the course date and subject, CE hours earned, and certification from an approved sponsor.
Audit Information: The Board conducts random CE audits annually. Licensees selected for audit must provide supporting documentation within 20 days of notification.
Additional Information: New graduates are exempt from CE during the calendar year in which they graduate. CE hours cannot be carried forward to another year. The Board may grant hardship extensions for verified medical emergencies or military obligations; requests must be received by December 15.
Veterinary Technicians
Next Renewal Date: December 31, 2026
Renewal Frequency: Annually on December 31. Veterinary technician registrations may be renewed from October 1 through December 31 each year.
Total Required CE: 8 hours annually
Required Subjects: At least 4 of the 8 hours must relate to the practice of veterinary technology, including scientific, laboratory, regulatory, or medical recordkeeping topics. No more than 4 hours may be related to practice management.
Allowed Online: All 8 required CE hours may be completed online. RACE-approved CE is accepted, including qualifying ZukuCE courses.
Record Retention: 2 years following renewal. Veterinary technicians must maintain documentation verifying completed CE.
