Endoscopy would be the safest route of removal in this case. The cap is large enough to be lodged in the intestinal tract if allowed to pass.

With endoscopy, you can get it out gently and quickly, with minimal anesthesia and no suturing. This is preferable to gastrotomy which would require incisions in both the abdominal wall and the stomach.
