Think of granulomatous abscesses with wooden tongue, caused by Actinobacillus lignieresii (remember LIGnieresii– LIGNIN is what makes WOOD).

Seen mostly in cattle, but also in sheep, horses, pigs, and dogs. Look for hard swollen tongue, with pyogranulomatous lesions in the SOFT tissues of head, neck, limbs.

Actinomyces bovis is the cause of lumpy jaw in cattle. Remember “MY lumpY” for lumpy jaw (i.e: MYces, lumpY).
