Intramuscular injections are most often given in the neck (3) in a triangular area defined by the nuchal ligaments dorsally, the cervical vertebrae ventrally, and the scapula caudally.

Additional locations include: the hamstring muscles (semimembranosus and semitendinosus muscles), the pectoral muscles, and the gluteal muscles.
